The Sentry Insurance Foundation recently gifted $2 million to the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Wausau campus to train rural doctors.

Check out the new Downtown Stevens Point ice skating rink which held a grand opening last week.

The United Way of Portage County recently celebrated breaking their 2019 campaign goal of $3.2 million to assist our community’s most vulnerable populations.

On Monday, January 21, JusticeWorks will hold a special Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration featuring a special performance by the Pacelli High School Concert Choir.

PCMS Presents Disney’s Frozen JR.

Disney's Frozen JR.The enchanting modern classic from Disney, Frozen JR., is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Community CornerPortage County Prosperity 2040 met earlier this month to formally identify and launch seven projects to support the future economic and community development efforts in our county.

In case you missed it, our very own Coach Wayne Sankey earned win 400 at the helm of the Pacelli baseball team. Congratulations!

Earlier this week, the UWSP Allen F. Blocher Planetarium kicked off its series of summer shows. Be sure to check out one of the free hour-long programs offered on several Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 7:30pm in the new Science Building.

Groundbreaking took place for the new recreation center at Standing Rocks Park.

The Special Olympics of Wisconsin will hold their State Summer Games at UWSP June 6-8, billed as their largest State Games it’ll surely be a great weekend of fun and competition.

We Walk: A Pilgrimage to Honor Brother James Miller

Brother James Miller PilgrimageIn honor of the anticipated beatification of Brother James Miller, FSC, Lasallian Volunteers (LVs), in collaboration with the Midwest District and Pacelli Catholic Schools, is hosting a pilgrimage to honor the life and legacy of Brother James, a Custer, WI native and former Pacelli student who died as a martyr on February 13, 1982 in Huehuetenago, Guatemala.

LVs will take part in the pilgrimage May 27-June 1, 2019 to more deeply learn about Brother James and his childhood by visiting Pacelli High School, his home parish, his family’s property, and his current burial place. Anyone interested in joining the LVs and Pacelli High school staff/students is welcome to participate in the activities below, the highlight being the special one-day pilgrimage from Stevens Point, WI, where Brother James was born, to Polonia, WI, where Brother James is buried. The event is free to participants. For more information and to register, contact the Lasallian Volunteers at 202.529.0047.
