Community Corner: April e-Newsletter

Community CornerWe live in a truly special community and this month, we’re proud to highlight a snapshot of some of the amazing work happening in our community during this difficult and unprecedented time.

Many in our community have been donating their time, talent, and resources to sewing homemade masks for those in healthcare and beyond. UWSP held a national Pointer Day of Sewing on April 20 and community members have banded together to form the Sew Together for Covid-19 Facebook community.

CREATE Portage County, in collaboration with many local businesses and organizations, has spearheaded efforts to transition using their 3D printers to print face shields.

Working in partnership, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin and United Way of Portage County established the Portage County COVID-19 Relief Fund (PCCRF) to provide flexible resources to organizations working to address critical needs of our area, granting nearly $200,000 to date.

Economic development partners in our community have banded together forming the Portage County Economic Recovery Team to provide information and resources regular community briefings and their website.

Point Brewery recently donated some of their tasty sodas to frontline healthcare workers at Aspirus.
